Semen Baturaja Holds SMBR Innovation Award 2025, Encouraging a Culture of Innovation in the Company

BATURAJA – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR), a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), once again held its annual SMBR Innovation Award 2025 as a token of appreciation for the creativity and innovation of the company’s employees. The awards ceremony took place at Ganesha Arena, Baturaja, OKU Regency, South Sumatra, on Wednesday (10/15). Present were the Regional Secretary of OKU Regency, Dharmawan Irianto, the SMBR board of directors, and employees.

The SMBR Innovation Award provides a platform for employees to showcase innovative ideas that impact efficiency, productivity, and company performance. This event has become an annual event consistently held by Semen Baturaja as an effort to foster a culture of innovation in the workplace. This year, awards were given in the categories of Logistics Efficiency, Manufacturing Excellence, Digitalization, Asset Optimization, and Best of the Best.

At this year’s event, the Si Mbah team won the Best of the Best award for their innovation, “The ‘Si Mbah’ Balancing Method Using Existing Tools and Power Apps for Time and Cost Efficiency in the Balancing Process at the Panjang Plant.” This innovation was deemed to have made a significant contribution to improving operational efficiency and saving costs in the production unit. The Si Mbah team will represent SMBR in the 2026 SIG Group Innovation Award, organized by SIG.

In his remarks, SMBR President Director Suherman Yahya stated that innovation is a continuous process and a vital part of the company’s journey. “Innovation is an ongoing and continuous process. When we innovate, we are learning, increasing our knowledge, and producing something better. This process is actually simple: just do it, do it, and keep doing it,” said Suherman.

At the end of his remarks, Suherman expressed his gratitude to all SMBR employees who had actively participated in bringing various ideas and innovations to the company, and expressed his appreciation to the OKU Regency Government for their support and long-standing partnership with SMBR. “We thank all SMBR employees for their innovative enthusiasm and contributions, and to the OKU Regency Government for their continued synergy. This support and collaboration are crucial for our continued growth and benefit to the community,” he said.

At the same event, the Regional Secretary of OKU Regency, Dharmawan Irianto, also expressed his appreciation for the organization of this annual innovation event. “Congratulations to Semen Baturaja management for holding the 2025 SMBR Innovation Award, a token of appreciation for employee creativity and innovation. We fully support and welcome the 2025 SMBR Innovation Award,” said Dharmawan.

He stated that the appreciation for creative and innovative employees will motivate all SMBR employees to continuously improve their professionalism and productivity. “Giving appreciation to creative and innovative employees will certainly motivate each employee to perform even better by enhancing their professionalism, honing their productivity, and always striving for innovation. The key is not to get bogged down in work routines but to think critically and out of the box,” he added.

This year, the various innovations produced by SMBR employees have provided extraordinary benefits, with a total value of over IDR 17.3 billion. This includes direct benefits of IDR 5.31 billion, efficiency benefits of IDR 5.68 billion, and potential benefits of IDR 6.36 billion. This achievement is clear evidence that the creativity of SMBR employees contributes significantly to increasing the company’s competitiveness and operational sustainability. (*)
