JAKARTA – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR), a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), has once again demonstrated its commitment to consistently and measurably implementing sustainability principles. For this performance, SMBR won the “Top Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2025” award at the TOP SDGs Award 2025, organized by TRAS N CO Indonesia and INFOBRAND.ID. The award was accepted by SMBR Operations Director Taufik on Wednesday (November 26) at The Sultan Hotel, Jakarta.

The TOP SDGs Award is given to companies deemed successful in implementing social, economic, and environmental development programs within their business strategies, while making a tangible contribution to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Assessment is based on the company’s Sustainability Report, which measures SDGs Initiative, SDGs Implementation, and CSR/TJSL fund management.

SMBR Operations Director Taufik emphasized that this award reflects the company’s ongoing sustainable transformation.

“The 2025 TOP SDGs Award is a recognition of the hard work of all SMBR employees in realizing more environmentally friendly, responsible, and sustainable company operations. For us, sustainability is not just about fulfilling reporting obligations, but also part of our work culture and the foundation of the company’s future growth,” he said.

In recent years, SMBR has continued to strengthen the implementation of sustainability programs across various operational aspects and community empowerment. In the environmental sector, SMBR encourages the use of Alternative Fuel & Raw Materials (AFR) to reduce coal use and reduce carbon emissions.

The company also developed an Economic & Education Bee Farm program, cultivating Trigona bees in post-mining reclamation areas, producing economically valuable honey while also serving as a means of environmental education for the surrounding community.

Meanwhile, SMBR’s sustainability concept is also presented through the Eco Cafe program, a collaboration with fostered MSMEs that offers a coffee experience with a unique payment method using recyclable waste, while also educating the public about the importance of waste management.

On Tuesday (November 11th), SMBR also launched two new sustainability programs: RUCIDA (Rumah Cacing Berdaya) (Empowered Worm House) and Baturaja Creative Fish Farming (BATIK). RUCIDA is an economic and environmental community empowerment initiative focused on cultivating earthworms as raw materials for animal feed and organic fertilizer, while BATIK aims to develop the community’s economic potential through sustainable freshwater fish farming.

SMBR Vice President of Corporate Secretary Hari Liandu explained that all these programs are part of a measurable sustainability program. “We always direct every initiative we implement to align with sustainability principles and provide tangible benefits to the community. Going forward, SMBR will continue to expand collaboration and innovation to ensure that all SMBR business processes are increasingly sustainability-oriented,” Hari explained.

This achievement further affirms SMBR’s position as a company that integrates business performance with environmental and social responsibility, in line with sustainable development goals. (*)
