JAKARTA – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR), a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), has once again achieved a Gold Rank in the Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASRRAT) 2025 event organized by the National Center for Corporate Reporting (NCCR) in collaboration with the Institute of Certified Sustainability Practitioners (ICSP).

This achievement marks the fourth consecutive year that SMBR has received this award and demonstrates the company’s consistency in presenting credible, measurable sustainability reports that align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

The award was accepted by SMBR’s Director of Finance & Human Resources, Rahmat Hidayat, at the ASRRAT 2025 awards ceremony held on Friday (November 28) at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali. In 2025, the event attracted 82 participants from within and outside the country.

Rahmat expressed his appreciation for the recognition given to SMBR. “This award demonstrates SMBR’s continued commitment to maintaining the quality of its sustainability reports through credible data and programs that are truly implemented in the field. This consistency is not just about reporting, but about our concrete efforts to create a positive impact on the environment and society,” he said.

This assessment is based on the 2021 Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, an international organization that provides sustainability reporting standards, and relevant regulations from the Financial Services Authority (OJK). It focuses on the completeness, balance, and accuracy of information. SMBR’s 2024 Sustainability Report is considered to have demonstrated consistent improvement in ESG performance.

Regarding the environmental aspect, SMBR has reclaimed 46.88 hectares of post-mining land and developed Trigona honey cultivation, with production reaching 81,840 ml, which began in 2021. Strengthened environmental performance is also evident in the increased use of alternative energy, with the Thermal Substitution Rate (TSR) realization increasing to 3.18% in 2024 through the use of alternative fuels.

Carbon emission reduction performance has also strengthened. Carbon intensity was successfully reduced from 577 kg CO₂/ton of cement to 562 kg CO₂/ton of cement, in line with a reduction in the clinker factor to 67.17%.

Regarding governance, SMBR’s ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) score significantly increased to 92.84 points, ranking it Very Good (Level 4), up from 88.51 points the previous year.

He emphasized that sustainability principles will continue to be SMBR’s strategic foundation. “Achieving the Gold Rank for the fourth year running spurs us to continue innovating, strengthening governance, and ensuring that every sustainability initiative has a broader positive impact on all stakeholders,” he said.

With this achievement, SMBR further solidifies its position as a company that consistently applies Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles throughout its business processes. (*)
