BATURAJA – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) announced its first-half 2025 performance during its Public Expose (Pubex) Live 2025, held online on Monday (September 29). During the event, SMBR management outlined the key factors underlying the company’s impressive performance throughout the first half of the year.

SMBR recorded positive growth, with sales volume increasing 21% and net profit soaring 952% compared to the same period last year. This growth was supported by an 8% increase in cement demand in the Southern Sumatra (Sumbagsel) region, although the national cement industry is still experiencing a demand contraction of around 2% due to oversupply, which is projected to persist until 2030.

SMBR President Director, Suherman Yahya, stated that the South Sumatra region is SMBR’s primary market base, with growth supported by government programs in the infrastructure and housing sectors, ongoing private projects, and significant contributions from the retail sector.

“Although national demand has fallen by 2%, the SMBR market in South Sumatra is actually growing. This is momentum for us to continue increasing growth by capitalizing on the potential of the South Sumatra market, which is a growth center,” said Suherman.

Meanwhile, SMBR’s Director of Finance & Human Resources, Rahmat Hidayat, emphasized that this impressive achievement is a combination of internal efficiency strategies and synergy with SIG, the state-owned cement holding company.

“Internally, SMBR is reducing production costs to achieve more efficient cost pricing, optimizing distribution channels to key markets, and strengthening market consolidation. Through synergy with SIG, SMBR is gaining greater economies of scale and broad supply chain support, thus strengthening market access. These two factors are the dominant factors in SMBR’s increased sales volume and net profit in the first half of 2025,” explained Rahmat.

Meanwhile, SMBR Operations Director Taufik emphasized that efficiency is also supported by the implementation of a cost leadership strategy through technology and production process innovation.

“Currently, Semen Baturaja is implementing a cost leadership strategy by reducing production costs through energy efficiency, such as reducing the clinker factor and using more economical alternative raw materials. We are also adopting plant automation technology with the Intelligence Process Control System (IPCS), a predictive model-based system that optimizes production operations in real time. This system is able to automatically calculate fuel requirements, temperature, and oxygen levels, making the production process more stable, energy efficient, environmentally friendly, and ensuring product quality,” Taufik explained.

With these positive achievements, SMBR is optimistic about closing 2025 with solid performance while strengthening the company’s contribution to GIS and infrastructure development in Indonesia. (*)

He added that this program is also part of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Anniversary celebrations. “This is a series of activities to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the TNI, which will fall on October 5, 2025,” he added.
SMBR President Director, Suherman Yahya, stated that the company’s support for this house rehabilitation program is a concrete manifestation of SMBR’s social concern for the surrounding community.

Through this support, Semen Baturaja hopes that the beneficiaries will have more decent and comfortable housing, while also being part of a joint effort to improve the welfare of the people in South Sumatra and the surrounding areas. (*)

PALEMBANG – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR), a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), held a Marketing Area (AP) 2 Distributor Gathering entitled “WINNING MINDSET: A Night of Victory and Harmony for AP 2 Distributors.” The event, held at the Arya Duta Hotel in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Thursday (September 11th), was attended by distributors from Jambi, South Sumatra, and Lampung.

The event was also attended by SIG’s Board of Directors, including President Director Indrieffouny Indra, Director of Sales & Marketing Dicky Saelan, and staff. From Semen Baturaja, all Directors were present: President Director Suherman Yahya, Director of Operations Taufik, and Director of Finance & Human Resources Rahmat Hidayat. SMBR Independent Commissioner Feryzal Adham was also present.

In his remarks, SIG’s President Director, Indrieffouny Indra, expressed his appreciation to all distributors in attendance. He assessed that sales performance in Marketing Area 2 through September 2025 showed significant improvement thanks to the solid collaboration between the company and distributors.

“We thank you, distributors, for attending this event. I also express my deepest appreciation to all distributors in the Jambi, South Sumatra, and Lampung areas. Thanks to the excellent collaboration, Area 2’s performance through September of this year has shown a commendable increase,” said Indrieffouny.

He added that distributors are strategic partners for both SIG and Semen Baturaja in expanding product marketing.

“For us, distributors are very strategic partners. Amidst the cement market still facing the challenge of oversupply, I am confident that with our experience and collaboration, we will be able to win the competition,” he added.

SIG’s Director of Sales & Marketing, Dicky Saelan, also highlighted the increasingly competitive conditions of the national cement industry. According to him, the cement business today is no longer the same as it used to be, where demand far exceeded supply. “Previously, the cement business was highly contested because demand was still high, with everyone scrambling to buy cement for construction. However, since 2014, the situation has changed. Currently, national cement production capacity has reached around 120 million tons, while demand is only around 60 million tons. This means that half of the supply has not been absorbed by the market,” explained Dicky.

He emphasized that this situation requires all parties to adapt. “With the increasingly fierce competition, we can no longer go it alone. We really hope for close cooperation with distributors. Through dialogue and collaboration, we can make changes and win the market together,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, SMBR President Director, Suherman Yahya, hoped that this event would strengthen our togetherness and provide momentum to pursue even bigger goals in the future.

“Hopefully, this event will be a forum for us to work together to pursue even bigger goals. We are open to input and suggestions for our mutual benefit,” said Suherman.

He also emphasized Semen Baturaja’s optimism, along with its distributors, to strengthen its market position. “Hopefully, we can be the host in our own region,” he added.

As a token of appreciation for distributors, SMBR presented awards to the best distributors deemed to have contributed to the company’s business growth based on their 2024 performance. These awards were divided into four categories: Best Volume 2024 (PT OKU Maju Perkasa, PT Tunas Surya Bumindo, PT Samudra Panca Jaya Pratama), Best Performance 2024 (PT Putra Balkom Jaya, PT Jaya Abadi Kontrindo, PT Samudra Panca Jaya Pratama), Best Business Growth 2024 (PT OKU Maju Perkasa, PT Serasan Sekundang Mandiri, PT Makhota Anugrah Satria), and Best PILOK (Market, Infrastructure, Legal, Organization, and Finance) 2024 (PT Samudra Panca Jaya Pratama, PT Sumatera Baja Indonesia Indah, PT Sumber Niaga Gemilang).

One of the distributors, PT Samudra Panca Jaya Pratama, led by Ginanjar, won a triple award (Best Volume, Best Performance, and Best PILOK) at the event. Ginanjar expressed his pride in having been part of the Semen Baturaja family for over a decade.

“I have been a distributor of Semen Baturaja for 12 years, and I express my deepest gratitude to Semen Baturaja. Alhamdulillah, we have been recognized for our performance in 2024. Hopefully, the synergy we have established can continue to be enhanced to achieve even better performance,” he said.

Through this event, SIG and SMBR reaffirmed their commitment to continuously strengthening synergies with all distributors, building optimism, and maintaining competitiveness amidst the challenges of the national cement industry.

Overview of performance in the first half of 2025, SMBR successfully recorded revenue of IDR 1.09 trillion, a 30.99% increase compared to the previous year.

BATURAJA – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) bersama Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup menggelar rapat persiapan pemanfaatan sampah menjadi energi melalui pemanfaatan Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF).

BATURAJA – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR), a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), recorded a significant performance surge during the first half of 2025. The company’s net profit soared to IDR 79.62 billion, a tenfold increase compared to IDR 7.32 billion in the same period last year. This increase marks SMBR’s success in emerging from single-digit sales and recording double-digit net profit growth in the first half of this year.

This net profit growth was supported by improvements in overall operational performance. Cement sales volume reached 1.13 million tons, an increase of approximately 21% compared to 928,646 tons in the previous period. This increase in sales also boosted the company’s revenue to IDR 1.09 trillion, a 31% increase from IDR 835.18 billion.

This improved performance was also reflected in a significant increase in operating profit to IDR 133.79 billion, a 168% increase compared to IDR 49.84 billion in the same period last year. The company’s EBITDA also increased 60% to IDR 236.67 billion from IDR 147.91 billion. This performance contributed to an increase in the EBITDA margin to 22% compared to 18% in the same period last year, reflecting increasingly optimal operational efficiency.

SMBR’s Vice President of Corporate Secretary, Hari Liandu, stated that this impressive achievement was the result of a combination of sound strategies and synergy with the parent company.

“This achievement is the result of the right strategy and solid synergy with SIG, which provides significant added value to our efficiency and performance,” said Hari.

He added that the company’s performance growth is inseparable from its ongoing efficiency strategy and increased market penetration in the Southern Sumatra (Sumbagsel) region, which is the company’s primary market share.

“We are seeing strong growth, especially in the South Sumatra and Sumatra region. Based on data from the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI), cement demand in this region grew by 14.2% (yoy) in the second quarter of 2025, far exceeding the national growth of 2.7% (yoy). This opens up a significant opportunity for SMBR to continue strengthening its position in the regional market,” said Hari.

Furthermore, Hari explained that the improved performance was not only due to increased demand, but also thanks to the company’s success in implementing a measurable operational strategy and synergy with its parent company, SIG.

“We are focusing on cost efficiency across all lines, from production and distribution to energy management. The use of alternative fuels, optimization of delivery routes, and integration of logistics systems are part of our efforts to reduce costs and increase margins. Furthermore, we continue to maintain service quality and optimize our sales network,” he explained.

SMBR is optimistic that this positive trend will continue in the second half of 2025. The company is also continuing to strengthen its operational strategy through product diversification, digital transformation of business processes, and the implementation of sustainability principles to create healthy long-term growth.
